Dear maintainer,

It seems Tilix somehow fails to execute the /etc/profile.d/vte-2.91.sh
script supplied by libvte-2.91-common, which means each new terminal
opens in $HOME. This works fine in Gnome Terminal. The Tilix wiki
provides some workarounds (e.g., softlinking to /etc/profile.d/vte.sh),
but I feel this should be unnecessary, or at least the Tilix package
should do it for the user.

I confirm that both the missing badge feature and the missing feature
to open new tabs with the same current working directory are fixed in
Ubuntu 25.10 which now includes the bash fix for
https://bugs.debian.org/675008 .

Thank you,
Jeremy Bícha

Subject: closing vte.sh issues fixed in bash 5.3-1
Date: Wed, 3 Sep 2025 11:37:14 -0400
bash 5.3-1 was uploaded to unstable today, fixing a variety of issues
in various vte-based terminal apps. As I mentioned in
https://bugs.debian.org/675008, it is not currently planned for this
fix to be uploaded to Debian 13.

Thank you,
Jeremy Bícha
