Subject: gbrainy: remove from unstable?
Date: Wed, 28 Aug 2024 14:15:43 +0200
Source: gbrainy
Version: 1:2.4.6-1
Severity: serious
Justification: get attention of maintainers for removal
X-Debbugs-Cc: Jeremy Bícha <jbicha@ubuntu.com>, wrar@debian.org
Hi,
gbrainy cannot migrate to testing for various issues, including it using
gtk-sharp3, which itself is rc-buggy und unmaintained.
In #1051044 it was proposed to remove more of the mono stack, including
gtk-sharp3.
I thus propose removing gbrainy from unstable too.
If you agree, please reassign immediately to ftp.debian.org for removal:
Control: severity -1 normal
Control: retitle -1 RM: gbrainy -- RoM; rc-buggy; leaf mono package
Control: reassign -1 ftp.debian.org
If not, please reply to this bug and lets have a discussion of how
gbrainy and the entire stack can be maintained going forward.
Chris

For the record: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1050515#26
But I'm afraid the answer is currently "reintroduce it when someone
packages dotnet".

In fact, gbrainy is now abandoned upstream, so it's wise to stop
beating the dead horse.

Subject: Bug#1079891: Removed package(s) from unstable
Date: Wed, 04 Sep 2024 04:27:46 +0000
We believe that the bug you reported is now fixed; the following
package(s) have been removed from unstable:
gbrainy | 1:2.4.6-1 | source, armel, armhf
gbrainy | 1:2.4.6-2 | source
gbrainy | 1:2.4.6-2+b3 | amd64, arm64, i386, ppc64el, s390x
------------------- Reason -------------------
RoM; rc-buggy; abandoned upstream; leaf mono package
----------------------------------------------
Note that the package(s) have simply been removed from the tag
database and may (or may not) still be in the pool; this is not a bug.
The package(s) will be physically removed automatically when no suite
references them (and in the case of source, when no binary references
it). Please also remember that the changes have been done on the
master archive and will not propagate to any mirrors until the next
dinstall run at the earliest.
Packages are usually not removed from testing by hand. Testing tracks
unstable and will automatically remove packages which were removed
from unstable when removing them from testing causes no dependency
problems. The release team can force a removal from testing if it is
really needed, please contact them if this should be the case.
We try to close bugs which have been reported against this package
automatically. But please check all old bugs, if they were closed
correctly or should have been re-assigned to another package.
Thank you for reporting the bug, which will now be closed. If you
have further comments please address them to 1079891@bugs.debian.org.
The full log for this bug can be viewed at https://bugs.debian.org/1079891
