Hello Thorsten,
I bugreport as you wish:
Please make the renamed gsfonts package provide "gsfonts-x11". Some
packages, e.g. j2sdk1.3 depend strongly on the (old named) package and
would be deinstalled otherwise.

Thanks,
Eduard.

Just to be sure there is no misunderstanding - gsfonts-x11 depends
on gsfonts <= 5.10a-2 presumly because defoma takes care of handling
the X11 support of the fonts. I plan to do what Eduard requests but
I want to make sure that we don't collide with our plans.

Is it okay for you if gsfonts provides and replaces gsfonts-x11?

Thanks

	Torsten

No. gsfonts-x11 <<0.13 depends on gsfonts <=5.10a-2, because it
includes symlinks to the fonts, which were in
/usr/lib/ghostscript/fonts in gsfonts <=5.10a-2, while they are moved
to /usr/share/fonts/type1/gsfonts in gsfonts 6.0.

I just released a new version of gsfonts-x11 0.13, which depends on
gsfonts >=6.0-2.
But I have to admit, that I didn't fully understand how defoma works
and how I can make the fonts available to X11 with it (the default
installation of gsfonts 6.0-2 and defoma doesn't seem to activate the
fonts for X11, does it?). I also don't know, how to implement font
aliases with defoma, because one of the major shots in gsfonts-x11 is
a large fonts.alias file, which maps the urw font names to the
official adobe font names, which most programs are looking for.

IMHO we first have to add the font aliases to the defoma configuration
files and some mechanism, which automatically makes gsfonts available
to X11 using defoma (it doesn't seem to work automatically, but I may
have missed something, and I have to admit, that I didn't read the
complete defoma documentation and source).

Tschoeeee

        Roland
