Subject: Description: is misleading with regards to jwm having few dependencies
Date: Sat, 9 May 2020 21:12:32 +0000
Package: jwm
Version: 2.3.6-1
Severity: wishlist

The package Description: currently (2.3.7-3) reads:

JWM is a window manager for the X11 Window System. JWM is written in C
and uses only Xlib and (optionally) the shape extension and libXpm. […]

However, as of 2.3.6-1 (stretch), the jwm Debian package is
built with SVG support, which adds considerably to its footprint.

I actually have two requests regarding this situation:

	 a. could the description of the package please be fixed to
	    mention that

This JWM package is built with support for the full suite of supported
image formats, including JPEG, PNG, SVG and XPM; as well as Xinerama
and Xrender extensions, and FreeType-based font rendering.

	 b. an alternative jwm-tiny package is provided with the minimal
set of dependencies (in the spirit of vim-tiny.)

	TIA.

control: retitle -1 Please provide jwm-tiny with minimum dependencies

Hello Ivan,

Thank you for this bug report,

I have updated the description as per your suggestion on 2.4.0-1.

I'm renaming this bugreport to reflect your request to provide the
jwm-tiny package. I'm not sure when I will have time to prioritize
this, but I can accept patches from people interested in it.

If you're aware of other people who would like to have jwm-tiny, or
your use case impacts multiple users, please let me know.

Thanks,
