This seems like a relatively trivial package, so I just went ahead and
built ... something. Source is at:

I'm not uploading this to NEW out of respect for this ticket, assigned
to you. I'm really happy to just give you maintainership, just
s/myname/yourname/ in the package and put it wherever you want. :)

Happy to share maintainership as well. Maybe it should go under the
team+swaywm@tracker.debian.org umbrella too?

Tested locally, it works fine. Only annoyance, IMHO, is the lack of a
manual page and the SUID bit.

ah, I think I've forgotten about this, also because `wev` serves a 
similar usecase, without SUID.

Feel free to upload, I won't have time for this in the next couple of 
days. Feel free to put it under the swaywm-team umbrella, I can also 
give you access to the salsa team, if you want to move it there.

I'm happy to move it wherever.

For me, wev doesn't cut it because it doesn't show keystrokes unless you
type them in the wev window, did I miss anything?

I've just uploaded wshowkeys to NEW, I've created a repository in the 
swaywm-team namespace, checked out the debian directory from your repo, 
did some additional cleaning up and updated the Vcs URLs accordingly.
