Package: compton
Version: 0.1~beta2+20150922-1
Severity: wishlist

Dear Maintainer,

Compton from https://github.com/chjj/compton was unmantained. Last commit was
from 2 years ago.

There is a new fork (https://github.com/yshui/compton) that is updated and it
is mantained.

Maybe you could consider generate debian compton packages from this fork.

Thanks. ;)

I would also be interested if the package's source point to yshui's
compton fork that seems to be the new de facto compton development
repository.

Any chance you could consider to change the source or should we consider
an other option (NMU, Orphaned, etc)?

Thanks for taking the time to let us know :).

For personal usage (I'm not a DD and I don't think I'm responsible enough to
ever become one), I forked the debian package repository to
https://gitlab.com/liskin/compton and updated the packaging to latest upstream
version, 7.3. Feel free to use this.

Hi all:

See https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=96143

If I understood correctly, migration will be manual. It would be nicer
if automatic (fake compton that depends on real picom?), or at least
some kind of notification beyond emails like this one.

Cheers,
GSR

There are some performance/stability issues currently with picom. From my experience of using compton and picom I would recommend packaging both compton 5.1 (https://github.com/yshui/picom/releases/tag/v5.1) and current picom.
