Dear maintainer,
Someone has to call it someday, okay it's my turn ;-)
The web is moving fast forward, now a day's, you know. And i would be
very pleased, getting php7.2 back ported into Debian 9 (Stretch).
Ubunu does support 7.2 for 18.04 LTS as well.
What's the policy for php?
Thanks,

The policy for PHP is same as policy for all other software. Means TL;DR: No new major versions.

Hi Ondřej,

Is it not possible using the backports repositories for instance
`stretch-backports`?
The major condition is that the version must be already packaged in
testing but it seems to be the case with php7.2.
Beside that, from a practical point of view, it seems that many major
PHP frameworks already require PHP7.1 and above.
I think if we don't provide a backport soon, many users will use
unofficial packages like dotdeb instead of Debian packages…

Thomas Pierson

It would be an easy thing if I get a ack from backports masters, but I am not going ask them again.
