Hi,
Whilst working on the Reproducible Builds effort [0], we noticed
that gconf can generate /var/lib/gconf/defaults/%gconf-tree-*.xml files
with non-reproducible contents:

By the way, the only thing keeping gconf in Debian Testing is the
eclipse situation.
Adrian Bunk earlier wanted to adopt gconf [1], but I think it might be
better to let it die. 7 years should be enough time for any active
upstream to switch to gsettings or something else.
