Subject: shotwell: 0100-ios8.patch fails Ubuntu's autopkgtest
Date: Sun, 30 Apr 2017 20:46:07 -0400
Package: shotwell
Version: 0.25.4+really0.24.5-0.1

Ubuntu has an autopkgtest which simulates a camera. (That autopkgtest
is not in Debian because it depends on autopilot-desktop which has not
been packaged in Debian yet.)

Now that Ubuntu has merged with Debian's packaging, the autopkgtest
fails and this appears to be triggered by that patch.

Thanks,
Jeremy Bicha

I see the error:

14:17:29.768 ERROR testcase:397 - Taking screenshot failed: Don't know how to take screen shot for this display server: UNKNOWN

Please can you explain why the 0100-ios8.patch is the cause?

Add why shotwell 0.26.1 Release? This version isn't in Debian.

Sorry, I didn't give enough details when I reported the issue here.
Please see https://bugzilla.gnome.org/781802

Yes, I'd like to see shotwell 0.26.1 in Debian experimental. See
https://bugs.debian.org/856708

Is it ok if bigon and I push commits to the collab-maint repository?
(Patches 3 and 5 are a little broken so we'll fix those before
pushing.)

Thanks,
Jeremy

Hello Jeremy,

this error only occurs in conjunction with Ubuntu specific packages.

On the other hand, the patch is required for proper interaction with
IOS devices.

Here I have to decide what is more important.

Disabling a patch is no big deal for Ubuntu maintainers.
On the other hand, an interaction with other devices is an important
feature.

I close this bug, because for me the interaction with other devices is
more important and I'm not a Ubuntu Maintainer.
