Subject: RFP: elpa-multiple-cursors -- Multiple cursors for emacs.
Date: Mon, 24 Apr 2017 16:18:30 -0400
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
* Package name : elpa-multiple-cursors
Version : 1.4.0
Upstream Author : Magnar Sveen
* URL : https://github.com/magnars/multiple-cursors.el
* License : GPL-3+
Programming Lang: Elisp
Description : Multiple cursors for emacs.
Multiple cursors for Emacs. This is some pretty crazy functionality,
so yes, there are kinks. Don't be afraid tho, I've been using it since
2011 with great success and much merriment.
----
Not sure about that description, but it's all upstream gave me so far
in their README. :)
I use this *all* the time. It's one of those modes that I just really
really miss in a plain Emacs install and immediately fetch from
somewhere. It allows you to do so much crazy stuff, but also basic
routine thing that would require you to write complicated and error
prone macros for...
As far as I know, there's nothing like it. The major limitation is
that it doesn't work with isearch-mode, but as long as you don't fire
up isearch while mc is active, you're fine.
Happy to comaintain and so on.

The built-in support for keyboard macros is really the same thing.
You should feel free to join the pkg-emacsen team on alioth and get
these packaged :)

Not for me it's not. :) Keyboard macros are different: they execute in
serial (multiple-cursors is in parallel) and they are "invisible",
non-interactive, which makes them harder to design and, to a certain
extend, therefore less flexible.
I still use keyboard macros for certain things, mind you, but for simple
stuff, mc is great.

Yep, I'll probably just do that soon enough. :)
