Subject: fakeroot: Mysterious failures on ARM
Date: Mon, 12 Feb 2001 12:26:13 -0500
Package: fakeroot
Version: 0.4.4-9
Severity: normal

Greetings,

I can't get anything to build on ARM using fakeroot. So I figured I'd
investigate a bit. The following makefile makes just fine:

all:
        dh_testroot
        # Random comment
        rm -f helloworld

The following makes fine too:

all:
        dh_testroot
        cd oaf-0.6.2 && rm -f helloworld

But the following breaks:

all:
        dh_testroot
        # Random comment
        cd oaf-0.6.2 && rm -f helloworld

Here's the command and output:

# fakeroot make
dh_testroot
# Random comment
cd oaf-0.6.2 && rm -f helloworld
semop(1): encountered an error: Numerical result out of range
make: *** [all] Error 1

Running under strace ends with "fork(unknown pid: 24570"

Any ideas? I'd love to be able to build and upload some ARM packages, but
can't until this is resolved.

Oh- ARM is 32-bit little-endian and defaults to unsigned char.

Thanks very much,

-Adam P.

Aha, the problem goes away with 2.2.13.
