since the 4.9 kernel is now available in unstable, the following
upstream patches need to be cherry-picked for compatibility:

please find conflict-resolved versions attached (seem to work for me,
but more eyes can't hurt). Please also note the 4.9 compat bug[1]
against spl-dkms, which should probably be handled in one go ;)
Thanks for your work on ZFS/SPL in Debian!

Confirmed. Can we please get this uploaded?
There is another build failure with 4.10-rc6 in experimental (since 4.10
is going to be the stretch kernel I was going to give it a spin), I'll
open a new bug for this.

Hi,
in case anyone missed it, 0.6.5.9 is now finally out, which retrofits
4.9 support and also has a 4.10 compat fix. Perhaps it makes more
sense to rebase on that rather than cherry-picking the 4.9 compat fixes
onto 0.6.5.8? Upstream's release timing has been somewhat unfortunate
this time around. :-(
Thanks,
Lukas

[Message part 1 (text/plain, inline)]
Hi,
My Debian installation is stuck on 4.8 kernel because zfs-dkms fail to
build for 4.9 kernel.
My question is why latest release of ZFS is only on Sid and not Stretch ?
Thanks.
ps: some data about my installation

I am appalled by the manner in which software gets packaged in Debian.
This was a long known bug and now Debian Stretch has a broken ZFS
package. Congratulations and thank you very much.

Do me a favor and refund yourself.
The the whole story is that the package was obviously not stable-ready
as Debian decided to move to Kernel 4.9. This bug report was filed
against the testing version zfs-linux/0.6.5.8-3. So may anyone explain
why this bug report was closed by uploading the new version
zfs-linux/0.6.5.9-2 to unstable?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Okay - lets calm down a bit.
May it be possibile to unblock it from freeze?
https://qa.debian.org/excuses.php?package=zfs-linux

best regards,

This is Debian policy. As Stretch is in final freeze [1] the release
team must approve any migrations from unstable to testing. This
unblocking request has been filed [2].
