W3 validator report several errors/warnings for diffoscope output, for example:

I'm downgrading this to "minor". The requirement of valid HTML — whilst
strictly defined — is not a pressing concern with modern browsers which
can parse almost anything, and it's not as if our HTML is too awful
wrt the specs. :)
