Subject: fails to exit on logout
Date: Wed, 21 Dec 2016 15:31:09 -0500
Package: parcimonie
Version: 0.8.4-1
Severity: normal
File: /usr/bin/parcimonie-applet

Parcimonie-applet is the only application or applet that remains after
I logout of my session.

I created a "test" user on my laptop, logged out of my normal session,
logged back in with that user in the "gnome flashback" desktop, logged
out, and got this control group tree:

  `-user-1001.slice
    |-session-9.scope
    | `-6889 /usr/bin/perl /usr/bin/parcimonie-applet
    `-user@1001.service
      |-6666 /lib/systemd/systemd --user
      `-6667 (sd-pam)

Here's the whole output of systemd-cgls:

http://paste.debian.net/903788

I have talked with the nice folks in #debian-systemd and while they
suggested that I can use KillUserProcesses=yes in logind.conf, that
seems a bit extreme, especially since I may want to run screen and
such long-lasting daemons.

There are other applets and processes (nm-applet, workrave, gpg-agent,
redshift-gtk) running in the background in my session that do *not*
stick around when I exit - why is parcimonie misbehaving?

Thanks for any feedback.

I've just tried, on an up-to-date rather clean Debian sid VM, to log
out from a GNOME session (both Wayland and X.Org) and in both cases
parcimonie-applet was not running anymore after logout.

Can you reproduce this in a regular GNOME session, or only in the
"flashback" one?

Now, as said on a couple related bug reports, my plan is to stop
(personally) maintaining the current applet, as soon as I've got
a working GNOME Shell extension. So, patches are welcome to fix
parcimonie-applet :)

Sadly, this is not available (anymore?): I see only "Entry not found".

Cheers,
