Subject: php5-phpdbg: lacks /usr/bin/phpdbg alternative

Package: php5-phpdbg
Version: 5.6.27+dfsg-0+deb8u1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I have installed php5-phpdbg from jessie/updates, the executable is
available as /usr/bin/php5dbg. It would be very nice to add support for
/usr/bin/phpdbg using the alternative system. Then I guess the
php7-phpdbg could also use that.

The reason is we have script that refers to 'phpdbg', eg without version
information.

Hi Antoine,

this would change the behavior of stable system (imagine somebody
already has a symlink
or different copy of phpdbg), so this is not a material for updating
stable release.

php7.0-phpdbg already registers phpdbg using alternatives system in
Debian.

Cheers,
