Message #5 received at submit@bugs.debian.org (full text, mbox, reply):
Package: thunar
Version: 1.6.10-3
Severity: normal
Dear Maintainer,
thunar displays an unmounted ext4 USB thumb drive. Clicking on it causes the
progress icon to be displayed but thunar then freezes and must be killed via
window manager or command line. The device is successfully mounted. Running
thunar in gdb provides no information.
I will now try downgrading to 1.6.10-2, which did not show this failure.
Kind regards,
Ben.

Downgrading libthunarx-2-0, thunar, thunar-data, and thunar-dbg to
1.6.10-2 restores the ability to mount and unmount USB devices.

Thanks for the report. Does this happen with *all* usb keys / removable
devices? Does the fs matter?

I just confirmed the problem with a vfat thumb drive; I do not think the
fs matters (mentioned only for completeness). I have tested several
different drives.
Only once during testing, 1.6.10-3 appeared to start working correctly
for all drives. This behaviour did not survive a reboot. Mounting with
1.6.10-2 is always successful.
Kind regards,

Failures only start after reboot! Upgrading to 1.6.10-3 appears to work,
even after all old thunar instances are closed/killed and restarted to
ensure fresh binaries are in use. After a reboot, freeze on mounting
happens every time with 1.6.10-3.
(I was testing again to see if recent udev and gvfs changes had any
effect; they did not.)
