Dear Maintainer,

The ChangeLog-pre-2.2.0 has mixed latin1/UTF-8 encoding. With some
locales, the grep call used to process it uses binary mode, returning
"Binary file matches" instead of the filtered content.

Please find a patch that fixes those issues, allowing reproducible build
[1,2].

Regards,
Alexis Bienvenüe.

Hi Alexis, thanks a lot for reporting this.

I'm afraid this is my fault, while doing a QA job on this package i did not
review the changelog output enough to catch this.

There's just a little problem, i see that your patch changes the package
changelog with a new release made by you, and i can't sponsor your upload
because i'm not a dd.

I could, however, make a new release signed by me, giving credit to you in
the changelog and keeping the patch itself almost intact (i would like to
add the "Last-Update" field on the header), and then having the package
sponsored. I just didn't wanna do this without asking you, because you may
want to do a package upload yourself, finding a sponsor.

Either way i will be glad to help.

Thanks.

This is fine for me, thanks.

Hi Alexis,

I've just prepared a new release of kdbg with your fixes, altough i'm a
little curious about one particular diff reported[1].

Please have a look at line 196 of "./usr/share/doc/kdbg/changelog.gz" on
[1].

There's also a problem with the name "André Wöbbeking" and i'm not sure if
your patch fixes that too, could you please confirm that/if you're aware of
that difference and wether grepping in non-binary-mode is enough?

In case you're in doubt if there's something more needed, i can upload a
new release do experimental to see if the build becomes reproducible or ask
someone for help to at least have confirmation that the other name won't be
a problem.

Thanks a lot for your help!

Yes I don't know where this comes from.

I think I checked reproducibility, but without explanations for the
point you mentioned, maybe it is safer to begin with experimental.

Alexis Bienvenüe.

Hi Alexis,

As you probably already has seen, i uploaded kdbg to experimental and we
still have reproducibility problems.
