Hi!

The 1.28-1 upload introduced a very useful option for the reproducible
effort, but very unfortunately this option is Debian-specific, which
makes it unusable for use in something like dpkg, as I'd rather not
repeat the «gzip --rsyncable» situation. :/

I'd appreciate if this option could be upstreamed so that I can start
using it in dpkg. There's been a recent attempt here:

although sending to bug-tar might have been more appropriate.
