Package: php5-common
Version: 5.6.17+dfsg-0+deb8u1
Severity: normal
Dear Maintainer,
* What led up to the situation?
I observe my session files are always here.
* What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
ineffective)?
I've looked in the /etc/cron.d/php5 file that begin to check if this file is executable. But I don't have this file a all. Son nothing is done.
I tried apt-get install reinstall php5-common in case this file is autogenerated => nothing.
I looked on https://packages.debian.org/jessie/amd64/php5-common/filelist and the file is not there also.
Anything to do ?
Regards, EG

You should have let the package install the new /etc/cron.d/php5 file,
your cron file should look like this:
# cat /etc/cron.d/php5
# /etc/cron.d/php5: crontab fragment for php5
# This purges session files in session.save_path older than X,
# where X is defined in seconds as the largest value of
# session.gc_maxlifetime from all your SAPI php.ini files
# or 24 minutes if not defined. The script triggers only
# when session.save_handler=files.
#
# WARNING: The scripts tries hard to honour all relevant
# session PHP options, but if you do something unusual
# you have to disable this script and take care of your
# sessions yourself.
# Look for and purge old sessions every 30 minutes
09,39 * * * * root [ -x /usr/lib/php5/sessionclean ] &&
/usr/lib/php5/sessionclean
Or just copy /etc/cron.d/php5.dpkg-new to /etc/cron.d/php5

Sorry for the noise.
Don't know why I had an old version of /etc/cron.d/php5.
It should be better now.
