Package: blueman
Version: 2.0.3-1+b1
Severity: normal
Dear Maintainer,
when I trigger a file transfer through clicking the tray icon, "Send Files to Device...",
this ends in an error message about a device descriptor being incorrect.
If, however, I first select "Devices", and then choose "Send a file" in the phone's
context menu, then file transfer works all right.
Kind regards,
Ralf

Hi Ralf,
thanks for your report.
The first - not working - way you describe should invoke
`blueman-sendto` without any options.
The second should invoke `blueman-sendto --source=<adapter_address>
--device=<device_address>`.
Could you try those two variants manually and see if the result is the
same as through the applet and manager window? You can get the addresses
from `bluetoothctl` (adapter is called Controller there).
The crucial difference is probably the --device option, but I cannot
spot the possible problem. When you confirmed that option makes the
difference, please provide the output of blueman-sendto from start to
the point where the error occurs.
Regards

If I do this, indeed again it doesn't work:

If I do "blueman-sendto --device=00:00:00:00:5A:AD", it works.

Ralf

Hi Ralf,
providing --device does not mean much difference to the GUI selection.
The only thing I could imagine playing a role for you is that a
discovery is started if you use the GUI selection.
You could try starting a discovery (e.g. with bluetoothctl or blueman)
and see if `blueman-sendto --device=00:00:00:00:5A:AD` works afterward
(you can try when the discovery is still running as wella as when it's
finished).

Hi,
indeed, if I hit "Scan" in the Blueman UI and then immediately run
"blueman-sendto --device=00:00:00:00:5A:AD" on the console, I get the
"Missing Record"-error. If I wait until the scan is done and try again,
there is no such error.
Kind regards,
Ralf

Indeed this seems to fix the issue - sending a file using the "Send
File" dialog now works.
Thanks a lot! And sorry for the long delay.
