Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
* Package name : r-cran-rjsonio
Version :
Upstream Author : Duncan Temple Lang
* URL : https://github.com/cran/RJSONIO
* License : BSD-3-Clause
Programming Lang: R, C
Description : serialize R objects to JSON
RJSONIO allows conversion to and from data in Javascript object
notation (JSON) format. This allows R objects to be inserted into
Javascript/ECMAScript/ActionScript code and allows R programmers to
read and convert JSON content to R objects.
.
This is an alternative to rjson package. Originally, that was too
slow for converting large R objects to JSON and was not extensible.
rjson's performance is now similar to this package, and perhaps
slightly faster in some cases.
Package is needed by beaker-notebook (bug#795980) and the ShowMeBox
project: https://wiki.debian.org/ShowMeBox - if interested, see also
https://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/showme-devel/2015-October/000050.html
Cc'ing Debian Science Maintainers in the hope they will pick this up.

Scott Draves, author of Beaker Notebook, just now discovered that no,
the libjson used by RJSONIO is a *different* one than the badly licensed
one. For starters, it is C++ code, not C...
Homepage for this libjson is http://sourceforge.net/projects/libjson/

I made upstream of _Beaker_ aware.
Had I only made upstream of RJSONIO aware, perhaps they'd pointed out
our mistake long ago. Oh well...
