Package: gnome-screenshot
Version: 3.16.2-1
Severity: important
Dear Maintainer,
Recently, I've been having issues with GNOME Screenshot leaving a modal grey
box the size of the screenshot area on the screen, until the app is closed.
This makes it extremely difficult to take screenshots in interactive mode,
because a screenshot of a large window / the entire screen will block
everything underneath, including the screenshooter's save dialog.
I'm using Cinnamon DE (cinnamon: 2.6.8-1, muffin: 2.6.1-3) with the AMD fglrx-
driver (version 1:15.7-1), in case that might be relevant. xserver-xorg-core
has version 2:1.17.2-1.
I've also tried changing the GTK+ theme, but that did not help.
Best,
James

Subject: Re: gnome-screenshot: GNOME Screenshot flash doesn't go away until the app
exits
Date: Wed, 29 Jul 2015 11:04:37 +0200
Package: gnome-screenshot
Version: 3.16.2-1
Followup-For: Bug #792089
I had the same problem, been using gnome-screenshot a lot, but
in the past few weeks with this bug was impossible to use.
The modal gray window cover the whole captured area and is sticky
over all the other windows, it doesn't capture mouse/keyboard
events, so eventually you blindly type/click on windows behind.
Weird downgrading to stable/3.14.0-1 doesn't change anything.
Commented out the cheese_flash stuff in screenshot_fallback_fire_flash()
in screenshot-utils.c and it solved (I don't care about being notified
by a flash, always use it in interactive mode)

I've just upgraded Cinnamaon on Debian 8.1 with the sid depots and I can't use
anymore the gnome-screenshot. I don't like Shutter but I don't have any option
now.

Control: fixed 792089 3.18.0-1
I can no longer reproduce this in GNOME Screenshot 3.18 in
testing/unstable. So I assume this was either fixed upstream or
something similar.
Best,
James
Marked as fixed in versions gnome-screenshot/3.18.0-1.
