Dear Maintainer,

Opening files on gvfs no longer appears to work in jessie. When double-clicking
on a network file in nautilus, libreoffice starts, throws the splash but does
not open the file. It quits a few seconds later. When using the file->open
dialog, the directory /run/user/1000/gvfs contains the same number of entries
as there are mounted shares, but they all appear as zero-size, zero-timestamp
nameless plain files. (see attached screenshot)

That is not a solution as:

was done for a good reason.

that to the best of our knowledge, people either:
- dont have libreoffice-gnome and friends installed, which you should if you use gvfs
- or they are suffering from a glib bug:
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/glib2.0/+bug/1214352
  which is in a header file, thus would require a full rebuild of all rdepends
  of glib and so would be very hard to fix properly on a stable release.

That's fine in principle, but it doesn't work. ;-)

Installing libreoffice-gnome has no effect.

Is there a way to determine if this is the cause here?

If the glib bug can't be fixed in Jessie, then IMO reverting the
URL-handling commit is an acceptable workaround. Libreoffice is painful
to the point of unusability in a corporate environment if you can't
double-click in the file browser (gvfs pathnames can be horrendous).

Sorry, installing libreoffice-gnome DOES fix the problem. I have no idea
how I got that the wrong way around earlier. Obviously I need more

"Obviously" you want -gnome which has all the GNOME-specific stuff if you
want to open stuff over _GNOME_ VFS (or GIO, which actually is used afaicr)
