Probably better depend on one of the following virtual packages instead
of adding mariadb-server-core-5.5:

In Kubuntu its also possible to run Akonadi MySQL backend with MariaDB.

As is discussed in kdepim-users in thread "Replace MySQL with MariaDB".

seems broken tough.

Would be really nice to have this in Debian as well, as in the original 
poster says Akonadi based software seemed to be snappier with this change. 
And I heard elsewhere that just replacing MySQL by MariaDB can improve 
performance.

"akonadi-backend-mysql" conflicts with "mysql-server-5.6" because of the 
following Depends:

    mysql-server-core-5.5 | mysql-server-core

The problem is that "mysql-server-core" is provided only by "mysql-server-
core-5.5" but not by 5.6.

The correct dependency on MySQL server would be just

    virtual-mysql-server-core

provided by: mariadb-server-core-10.0, mysql-server-core-5.5, mysql-server-
core-5.6, percona-xtradb-cluster-server-5.5.

I'm raising priority of this bug since "akonadi-backend-mysql" can't be 
installed together with MySQL server 5.6.

If this is OK with regular uploaders I shall be happy to upload fix for this 
problem. Please advise.
