Nice one! So I think it's time to remove semanticscuttle from Debian
(#659390). Also, scuttle package doesn't seem to be in good shape
neither (#607068). I'm cc'ing this to interested people on this.

Fully agreed.
I personally stopped using scuttle some months ago.

There are still some rough edges. The main missing features for me
personally are a lack of support for private bookmarks and running
under a path (rather than a subdomain). Upstream is quite active
though and working on these.

I am still using semanticscuttle, but the package is basically dead, and
I'm not upgrading my install right now.
I'm considering switching to Zotero (as it unites with my book library
management, #709925) or "poche" (https://www.wallabag.org/, #734753).
I am not sure what bookie has more to offer than those two, which also
allows me to save the content of the webpages for offline reading.
Nevertheless, assuming that semanticscuttle is dead in Debian is correct
right now. :)

Thanks for those links. I hadn't seen those two projects, they look
like interesting options as well.

retitle 744306 RFP: bookie -- Python based delicious.com replacement
thanks
I'm giving up on this for the moment. I'm still very interested in
trying out and eventually moving to bookie, but there are too many of
open issues with the package for me to hack on it at the moment.
Problems specifically with packaging in Debian:
* a changing list of dependencies, some of which are not packaged in
Debian
* trouble initializing a database with the packaged copy of all
dependencies (haven't dug into this much further)
For my personal use, bookie currently is too heavyweight - it has
a large number of dependencies (requirements.txt alone lists 66),
some of which are quite heavyweight (postgresl/mysql, rabbitmq,
redis). It also doesn't yet support serving from a subdirectory
(https://github.com/bookieio/Bookie/issues/148).
None of these problems is impossible to overcome, but they
do require investment of a nontrivial amount of time.
For the moment, I'm changing this ITP to a RFP, since I don't want
to be the blocker for bookie getting into Debian. I might revisit that
in the future if bookie improves and nobody has picked up this bug by
then.
For those interested, my initial hacky work is available from
git://git.debian.org/users/jelmer/bookie.git

The upstream website (bmark.us) and demo site (bookie.io) are both dead.
The GitHub repository is still alive:
https://github.com/bookieio/Bookie
... but hasn't seen a commit since 2015.
So I think we should consider this project dead and buried, and there's
no reason this should be packaged in Debian.
I'm currently using Wallabag, warts and all.
