Indeed. Last month, Jonathan McCrohan prepared an update of
awesome-extra and I reviewed it, but I have not heard from him since
then, so I'm Cc'ing him to know if he has been able to work on it since
then...

Its on my to-do list. I hope to get some time this weekend.

Arnaud, what is the current status of awesome 3.5? Can it be uploaded to
unstable yet?

Thanks,
Jon

As #736314 has still not been fixed, it's still in experimental. But
that should not affect awesome-extra which should work with 3.4 anyway,
right?

Package: awesome-extra
Version: 2012061101
Followup-For: Bug #739402

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

Last packages updates (sid) brought awesome package from 3.4.15-1+b1 to 3.5.6-1.
The load of the shifty classes results in an error, the configuration is
therfore the default one

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
     ineffective)?

Shifty is no more maintained, and can be replaced with Tyrannical:
https://github.com/Elv13/tyrannical
I did clone it in my .config/awesome directory, retrieved the example rc file
and adapted with my old shifty configuration

   * What was the outcome of this action?

Successful, I could have my dynamic tags

This extension may be added to the awesome-extra package, and the shifty
package can be removed (as it is no longer functionnal)

Indeed, clearly this package is not updated so often, so if anyone wants
to jump in and adopt this package, that would be a good idea.

Hi Julien,

I've pulled updated upstream code for each of the included modules and
prepared an update for the awesome-extra Debian package. You can find a tar
file containing source and binary packages at [1]. I intend to upload it to
Debian by tomorrow night, if you have no concerns about it.

Best regards,
Goedson

Sure, go ahead. If you want to adopt the package, that might be a good
idea, considering it really needs some love.
