Hi,
please remove openswan. It has seen it's last upload 16 months ago, has three RC bugs by now
and was already dropped from testing 3.5 months ago. A security-sensitive package like
this needs a higher level of maintenance. Alternatives exist (e.g. strongswan)

Cheers,
        Moritz

Subject: Please follow the MIA process instead of asking for package removal

Hi Moritz, hi Christian,

please follow the MIA process [1] instead of requesting the removal of
packages you consider "Apparently unmaintained".

This gives other developers the chance to adopt the package
(yes, many packages get adopted quite quickly after filing an O: WNPP bug).

And it is very bad for the overall quality of Debian when the one
RC-buggy package of a MIA maintainer gets removed, but all his other
packages stay unmaintained.

Thanks in advance
Adrian

I know what I'm doing (I have reported dozens of inactive maintainers
to mia@qda over the years) and in this case removal is the best way
to proceed.

Cheers,

l2tp-ipsec-vpn-daemon has been removed, so openswan is good to go.

Date: Tue, 01 Jul 2014 11:26:03 +0000
We believe that the bug you reported is now fixed; the following
package(s) have been removed from unstable:

  openswan | 1:2.6.38-1 | source, amd64, armel, armhf, i386, mips, mipsel, powerpc, s390x, sparc
openswan-dbg | 1:2.6.38-1 | amd64, armel, armhf, i386, mips, mipsel, powerpc, s390x, sparc
openswan-doc | 1:2.6.38-1 | all
openswan-modules-dkms | 1:2.6.38-1 | amd64, armel, armhf, i386, mips, mipsel, powerpc, s390x, sparc
openswan-modules-source | 1:2.6.38-1 | all

------------------- Reason -------------------
RoQA; unmaintained, RC-buggy
----------------------------------------------

Note that the package(s) have simply been removed from the tag
database and may (or may not) still be in the pool; this is not a bug.
The package(s) will be physically removed automatically when no suite
references them (and in the case of source, when no binary references
it). Please also remember that the changes have been done on the
master archive and will not propagate to any mirrors until the next
dinstall run at the earliest.

Packages are usually not removed from testing by hand. Testing tracks
unstable and will automatically remove packages which were removed
from unstable when removing them from testing causes no dependency
problems. The release team can force a removal from testing if it is
really needed, please contact them if this should be the case.

We try to close bugs which have been reported against this package
automatically. But please check all old bugs, if they were closed
correctly or should have been re-assigned to another package.

Thank you for reporting the bug, which will now be closed. If you
have further comments please address them to 736557@bugs.debian.org.
