Since nobody answered to my emails, I orphan this package.

Hi.

Sorry, I've found the library is going to be orphaned just now (just
read debian-devel wnpp digest). I have also found that subject is a
dependency for salt-common which is under team maintainership I'm a
member of. I'm going to ask if it's better to support via DPMT or move
under maintainership of pkg-salt-team since latter primarily uses git.

Also asking Salt team if it's ok for me to maintain this library under
team Maintainership if such decision is made.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Andrii,

thanks a lot for proposing your help, and sorry that I forgot to
CC the reverse-dependent packages !

Cheers,

My understanding is that removal of m2crypto is an open issue for salt
upstream [1].

Whilst this doesn't prevent team maintenance in the short term, we may
become less interested in it in time.

Noting the above, I'm happy for you to maintain it Andrii (under the
team banner or not).

Joe

Subject: any progress on this front?

Hi,

I wanted to use salt, but stumbled over this dependency issue.
Unfortunately, the upstream bug has also seen no activity for half a
year already, so I wonder how to make progress now.

I mean, in the absence of a usable PyCrypto integration, and with
M2Crypto gone, it very much looks like salt is becoming a no-go in
Debian - right?

Please enlighten me!

Kind regards,

Hello,

I'm on the SaltStack core development team. I will volunteer to maintain
the m2crypto package going forward. Whom do I need to contact to help to
manage the transition?

Best,

-Mike Place
