When using Debian on a USB stick with the kive-boot project, after upgrading the kernel to version number: 2.6.32-5-686, the system isn't able to mount a vfat filesystem anymore.
dmesg report the foolowing: vfat: Unknown symbol utf8s_to_utf16s_fixed

99% of the time you see this sort of error for an in-tree module, it's
due to an incomplete kernel upgrade and is not a kernel bug.

In this case it appears to be a limitation of the Debian Live system.
