Description : object-relational mapping (ORM) system for the C++ language

ODB is an open-source, cross-platform, and cross-database object-relational
mapping (ORM) system for C++. It allows you to persist C++ objects to a
relational database without having to deal with tables, columns, or SQL and
without manually writing any mapping code. ODB supports MySQL, SQLite,
PostgreSQL, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server relational databases as well
as C++98/03 and C++11 language standards. It also comes with optional
profiles for Boost and Qt which allow you to seamlessly use value types,
containers, and smart pointers from these libraries in your persistent C++
classes.

Hi,

I am the developer of ODB. Today I announced the availability
of ODB packages for RHEL 5 and 6, as well as Fedora 19-21.
While this is great news, what saddens me somewhat, as a Debian
user myself, is that there are no such packages for Debian yet.

At the same time I believe it should now be very straightforward
to package ODB for Debian. The system was designed from the grounds
up to be packager-friendly (that’s why it is split into multiple
packages instead of being a one monolithic block). Also, the packaging
efforts first for Gentoo and then for EL/Fedora ironed out a lot of
kinks. So if anyone is interested in packaging ODB for Debian, let
us know (post to the odb-users mailing list). I will personally
assist you in any way I can, as I did in the past for the Gentoo
and EL/Fedora packaging efforts.

Boris

As far as I can remember, I've a package ready, but not yet uploaded.

Sure, can't remember any problems. When I arrive back home, will check it.

It has a dependency on libcutl that Onur wanted to package. It was in
a good shape and I noted some issues to him, but didn't receive an
answer.
Onur, do you still working on it? May I continue with it, take over your ITP?

Hope I'll be able to upload it soon. Will contact you if any problems arise.

Sorry didn't have a chance to complete libcutl package. I'd like to complete
package if you ok with this. I will send package when it's ready, in
few days.

It's up to you. I've updated libcutl package to 1.8.0 and corrected
all the problems meanwhile. It's ready to be uploaded.
As you are the ITP owner, I can step back of course. We may maintain
it together even.

nvm then, just take ITP and upload it if it's ready.

Subject: ODB Debian Package
Date: Mon, 24 Mar 2014 14:30:16 +0430
Dears,

In my new project, I intend to use ODB as ORM in the project. But I
did not find any deb package for this product. After some search on
the net, I found one bug on debian site with number '717532'. If you
all agree, I begin creating deb package for it. Of course I will need
assistance from you to package.

Best Regards
Nima Chavoshi

The package is ready. It has a dependency on libcutl, which is also
packaged. However it needs checking and acceptance from Debian
FTP-Masters first. As such, it's in the NEW queue[1]. Once it'll be
accepted to the archive, I'll upload odb immediately. Please note that
it has to go through NEW as well which needs additional time.

Kind regards,
Laszlo/GCS
