Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I request an adopter for the libgphoto2 package. The package is currently
maintained within the Debian PhotoTools Team, CCed.

The package description is:
The gphoto2 library can be used by applications to access various
digital camera models, via standard protocols such as USB Mass Storage
 and PTP, or vendor-specific protocols.
 .
 This package contains the library.
 .
The gphoto2 command-line frontend is shipped separately, in the gphoto2
 package.

Hi Martin;

I see you recently updated libgphoto2 (and gphotofs) in Ubuntu. What
about maintaining libgphoto2 in Debian and synching to Ubuntu? I see the
Debian maintainer is currently looking for an adopter.

I'm fine with doing an NMU of the new version and its rdepends (like
gphoto2 and gphotofs, which need new upstream versions), but I'm
afraid I don't have enough time to become a real maintainer for it :-/

OK, since it looks like there is no SONAME change (right?) an NMU sounds
like progress.

cheers,

David

It does change both ABI and API quite a bit, and thus needs a
transition. I did that in Ubuntu, most rdepends work just fine, but
gphotofs and gphoto2 need new upstream versions which work against
2.5.

Hello all,

Is a NMU (or a QA upload) still planned for this package?

I can request a transition slot if needed.

Cheers

Laurent Bigonville

They've been baking in Ubuntu for a while now, I have fairly good
confidence in them. If you guys want to, I can NMU libgphoto2 2.5.2,
gphoto2 2.5.2, and gphotofs 0.5; these three need to go together,
everything else are just rebuilds.

Laurent, if you could sort out the transition slot, that'd be great.

Thanks,

Martin

This is blocked on getting a transition slot
(http://bugs.debian.org/725951), as far as I understand.

Hi,

I've prepared the package to be uploaded in Debian.

I've converted libgphoto2-2-dev into a transitional package that pulls
the real -dev package (libgphoto2-dev) to ease the transition.

I think everything is ready to start the transition.

Cheers,

Laurent Bigonville
