Version: 0.30.4-2
Severity: important

Hi.
I am using openjdk-6 (6b27-1.12.3-1)

In uncommented libatk-wrapper which has been commented out of
accessibility.properties in the openjdk packages because of startup
problems.

When I do that policytool works fine with orca.

Then I tried running jexplorer.
It hangs and spins; the window never opens.
I could understand if an application didn't end up being very accessible, but failing to start with libatkwrapper-java seems like a significant libatk-wrapper-java bug.

I'm happy to provide more info if it turns out aptitude install jxplorer&&jxplorer is not sufficient to reproduce

Ouch! I wasn't aware of this issue and this commenting from the openjdk
package. That indeed makes libatk-wrapper-java completely useless, thus
the change of severity.

Works fine with me too.

It works fine with me, I can access the interface etc...

Are you running a gnome session without any particular configuration
beyond running Orca?

Trying a couple other times, I'm getting some errors in the terminal
I've started jxplorer from:

[xcb] Unknown sequence number while appending request
[xcb] Most likely this is a multi-threaded client and XInitThreads has not been called
[xcb] Aborting, sorry about that.
java: ../../src/xcb_io.c :160 : append_pending_request: L'assertion « !xcb_xlib_unknown_seq_number » a échoué.

are you getting similar errors?

It looks like libatk-wrapper-java calls XInitThreads, but perhaps too
late.

Samuel

Note to RC bug hunters: for Wheezy I'll probably simply upload a package
with a documentation note on how to re-enable accessibility in openjdk,
and warn that it is not stable with multithreaded applications.

I'm unaware of any particularly interesting configuration of my gnome
session.
What would be a good way to test with as much configuration as possible
removed other than enabling orca?
