Subject: Always configure X11 server

[Message part 1 (text/plain, inline)]
Package: live-config
Version: 3.0.21
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

The live-config 1150-xserver-xorg is only run once for live sytems with
a rw persistence medium. While this behavior might make sense for other
live-config scripts which modify configuration settings, this does not
make sense for hardware configuration. One of the main purposes of a
live system is to be hardware agnostic.

The attached patch makes the script run on every boot and ensures that
xorg autodetection works if an other driver was selected before by
removing those settings.

retitle 701824 support for custom persistence
severity 701824 wishlist
tag 701824 - patch
thanks

there will be a general reworking of all live-config scripts in 4.x to
allow custom persistence like it was discussed on numerous occasions
already.

I don't know what custom persistence is, but for all I can imagine it
does not seem like the right tool for the problem I reported. And I
don't think this is just whishlist, but a real problem that makes the
current Debian Live at least very hard to use if you move the image
between a machine that is only supported by nvidia or fglrx and one that
needs the free xorg drivers.

To be honest I rather think the severity could also be set higher and
that it would be at least nice to fix this for wheezy or in a wheezy
backport.
