Couldn't the package use a name which is more clearly identified as
related to either lacie or uboot? The more specific the package name
the better, unless the package is going to gain support for the uboot
netconsole on many more products. The package name is far from being as
specific as the package itself. General purpose names are (relatively)
fine for general purpose programs.

The Description isn't suitable for a real package, it should at the
very least refer to uboot and lacie. Whichever keyword doesn't get
added to the package name needs to be in the short description.

Well, plum is an acronym for Python LaCie das U-Boot Milchkuh, I'm not
really good at giving names, if you have any idea, feel free to share.

The word U-Boot and LaCie are in the description already.

lucie-uboot

lucie-uboot-netconsole

IMHO python isn't that relevant but you could just py- into there
somewhere.

The point is that the name should reflect just how specific this
package is to a single bootloader, a single method of that bootloader
and a single set of products using that bootloader.

A change of name should also involve retitling the ITP.

At 92 characters that is too far long for the *short* description and
it repeats the (proposed) package name.

http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/developers-reference/best-pkging-practices.html#bpp-pkg-synopsis

The short description should be of the order of 50 characters.

Won't people think it's a u-boot package (I mean, like, a binary of
the boot loader) but for LaCie product ?
As I said, I'm really not good about names, so thank you very much for
trying to help me here.

I agree, I'm not a very big fan of python-package unless it's a python library.

I'm reading the documentation on how to do that (it's the first time I
try to add a package to debian as you may have imagined :))

What about :
Description : lacie u-boot netconsole shell
?

Now the dumb question, to change the description, what do I do ? I
wasn't able to find that info in the docs :/
Should I also add a more detailed description at the end of the ITP ?
I did not write one but from what I see in the docs I should have.

How about asking for a review of the package description in
debian-l10n-english?

(I'd suggest doing this *after* choosing the "right" package name.

Another package already in Debian is named plum:
http://packages.debian.org/sid/plum

So, it must be changed.

To change name and description you should write a mail to
control@bugs.debian.org with the following content:

retitle bugnumber new-title
thanks

Ouch, obviously, I'll have to think of a new name.

I will do that as soon as I find a new name, last dumb question, to
change the description, should I use the summary command with the
whole text ?

Thank you very much

I think summary is not needed in this case. I give you an example of
what you should do: if the new name is "lucie-uboot" and the new
description is "lacie u-boot netconsole shell", you should send a mail
to cotrol@b.d.o with the following content:

retitle 692894 ITP: lucie-uboot -- lacie u-boot netconsole shell
thanks

I hope it helps :)
