Hi, scratch doesn't work with LTSP thin clients because -xshm is forced.
Here's a patch that works around the problem:

-xshm causes other problems so it's been disabled:

  * Added support for help in starting script. Thanks to Alec Clews.

  [ Amos Blanton ]
  * Prefer pulse plugin if pulse is present, because pulse ALSA emulation
    fails when user records sounds.
  * Remove -xshm switch to squeakvm to prevent Ubuntu Bug 1025013.
