* Package name : Diagnostic Log and Trace (DLT)
  Version : 2.7.0
Upstream Author : Alexander Wenzel alexander.aw.wenzel@bmw.de
* URL             : http://www.genivi.org/projects
* License         : Mozilla Public License v2.0
  Programming Lang: C
Description : Diagnostic Log and Trace is a collection of logging and tracing protocols commonly found in an infotainment ECU as standardized by Autosar.

This component provides a standardised log and trace interface, based on the
standardised protocol specified in the AUTOSAR standard 4.0 DLT.
This component can be used by GENIVI components and other applications as
logging facility providing
 - the DLT shared library
 - the DLT daemon
 - the DLT daemon adaptors
 - the DLT client console utilities
 - the DLT test applications

The DLT daemon is the central component in GENIVI, which gathers all
logs and traces from the DLT user applications. The logs and traces
are stored optionally directly in a file in the ECU. The DLT daemon
forwards all logs and traces to a connected DLT client.
The DLT client can send control messages to the daemon, e.g. to set
individual log levels of applications and contexts or get the list of
applications and contexts registered in the DLT daemon.

Hi,

According to [0] the package name you have chosen (Diagnostic Log and
Trace (DLT)) is not valid.

Debian Policy 5.6.1 [1] says:

"Package names (both source and binary, see Package, Section 5.6.7) must
consist only of lower case letters (a-z), digits (0-9), plus (+) and
minus (-) signs, and periods (.). They must be at least two characters
long and must start with an alphanumeric character."

Please, could you choose another name for this package and retitle this
bug?

Thanks!

Could you please give a URL where one can actually download the software? I
could only find a listing of the projects on this page with information that it
is meant to be open source, but couldn't find any actual source.

Thanks a lot,
Michael

Yes, I should have put this in the bug report as well:
http://git.projects.genivi.org/?p=dlt-daemon.git;a=summary

The reason I didn't put this in the bug report is that the
git repo is not yet populated with code. It will be shortly.

Do you think I should have waited to file the ITP bug? I thought
filing the bug now and closing it once the software was available
would be okay, but perhaps that is putting the cart before the horse.

I think filing an ITP is fine, but you seemed to include a lot of information
(including licensing, the host language, and possibly other) that doesn't seem
to be available at this point. Providing a hint that the software will only be
made available later would likely have been helpful.

Best,
Michael

Hi,

A long time ago, you expressed interest in packaging genivi-dlt. Unfortunately,
it seems that it did not happen. In Debian, we try not to keep ITP bugs open
for a too long time, as it might cause other prospective maintainers to
refrain from packaging the software.

This is an automatic email to change the status of genivi-dlt back from ITP
(Intent to Package) to RFP (Request for Package), because this bug hasn't seen
any activity during the last 10 months.

If you are still interested in packaging genivi-dlt, please send a mail to
<control@bugs.debian.org> with:

retitle 688586 ITP: genivi-dlt -- Diagnostic Log and Trace
 owner 688586 !
 thanks

It is also a good idea to document your progress on this ITP from time to
time, by mailing <688586@bugs.debian.org>. If you need guidance on how to
package this software, please reply to this email, and/or contact the
debian-mentors@lists.debian.org mailing list.

Thank you for your interest in Debian,
--
