Hi,
libvirt has a build-dependency on libnl-dev [1].
libnl-1.x is no longer actively developed [2] and has been superseded
by libnl-3.x [3].
Please port libvirt to this new version resp. notify upstream to get
libvirt updated.
One of the major changes in v3 is that the library was split into
several smaller libraries. You can find a developer' guide and
API documentation for each library at [2].
Cheers,
Michael

libvirt already supports libnl3 we just need to coordinate with
libnetcf. It's already on the TODO list.

Message #15 received at 688167@bugs.debian.org (full text, mbox, reply):
Hi,
since this question came up, I wanted to clarify that removing libnl1
is not a release goal for wheezy and wheezy will definitely ship with
libnl1!
Unstable is currently frozen in preparation for wheezy. I don't
consider updating to libnl-3.x as important enough which would
warrant a freeze exception by the release team.
So please wait with such an upload to unstable until jessie is open
for development. An upload to experimental while wheezy is frozen
would be appreciated though.
I'm sorry if this caused any confusion.
I just wanted to give you an early heads-up. My plan is to remove
libnl1 early during the jessie release cycle.
Cheers,
Michael

Should we block #688167 with #688170 or can the packages be switched
independently?

netcf needs to get uploaded first. Serge, could you upload a new netcf
built against libnl-3 to experimental and add a conflict on
libvirt0 (<= 0.10.1-2~)
I'll then upload a new libvirt.

So, we are in an unfortunate situation now: libnetcf was upload to
unstable [1]. Due to the breaks, virt-manager etc is now no longer
installable [2].
Could the libnl bits please be reverted again for unstable and *only* be
enabled for experimental (at least not as long as wheezy is frozen).
