Dear Maintainer,
In Ubuntu, the attached patch was applied to achieve the following:
* Transition package to default java implementation:
- d/control: BD on default-jdk (>= 1:1.6), switch runtime dependency
to default-jre | java6-runtime.
- d/rules: Specify source/target = 1.5 to ensure that backwards
compatible bytecode is built.
Ubuntu quantal is transitioning default java from openjdk-6 to openjdk-7. This
patch eases the transition and ensures backwards compatible bytecode is built.
Note that this is not a release goal for wheezy.
Thanks for considering the patch.

Control: severity -1 serious
Dear Maintainer,
OpenJDK6 support will be dropped from Debian. Hence the severity of this
bug is release critical now. Please transition your package to use
OpenJDK7 as the default java implementation for Jessie. In most cases a
patch has already been provided for the transition. Please feel free to
ask questions about this bug report or the transition in general on the
debian-java mailing list.
For the Debian Java Team
