Package: python-mode
Version: 1:6.0.10-1
Severity: grave
Due to popularity of ipython and the purpose of python-mode to provide means
for interactive work with python code within emacs I consired this bug
important for the most of the users of python-mode (thus grave).
In ipython shell ran by python-mode I enter some command and then try to get
back to it by pressing C-Up, previous command gets inserted BEFORE the prompt,
thus making it unusable
In [3]: i = 1
i = 1In [5]:
FWIW it behaves correctly in a regular python shell

isn't python-mode.el belonging to python-mode package the one
responsible for setting up ipython shell comint mode??? (sorry, I just
do not know those details)
Barry, I thought you had some handy way to forward bugs to LP or have
misunderstood?
N.B. Ideally, I am as a user report bugs in Debian using reportbug, and
then the mighty Maintainer either fixes them himself or forwards
upstream (i.e. LP). Who am I to steal the pleasure of maintainership
duties away from him ? ;)
and as you kindly pointed out -- it might not be a bug of
python-mode.el?...
** busy fixing a bug in numpy and forwarding it upstream ATM.

I don't either since I'm not an ipython user.

We can easily link bugs in Launchpad to the related bug in Debian, but that's
about it.

so, is it or is it not, Dear Maintainer? ;)
ATM I simply can't use python-mode productively. Any interactive
ipython shell becomes a pain

If you think a bug results from python-mode.el, best is IMO reporting
it at https://bugs.launchpad.net/python-mode also
From there it's easy indeed linking it to the orignal ticket.
Sure, may report it for you as done with lp:1020412
However, as it lists me as the reporter than, some info was lost.
Usually the name of the reporter signales the kind of (open) bug for me already.
It's faster than reading the larger title.

Sorry about that. Being aware, something remains TBD with IPython-shell behavior.
Patches welcome.

python-mode - Python mode for GNU Emacs and XEmacs
Closes: 670332 679968 680577 688037
Changes:
python-mode (1:6.0.12-1) unstable; urgency=low
.
* New upstream release.
Closes: #679968
* Fix 50python-mode.el's auto-mode-alist to match python-mode.el.
Closes: #670332
* Add python2.7, python3, and python3.2 to interpreter-mode-alist in
50python-mode.el
* debian/rules, debian/patches/no-pymacs.patch: Copy
completion/pycomplete.el and test/doctest-mode.el

required by python-mode.el. Closes: #680577
