Hi!

I remember I have sent the following suggestion to be added to default
/etc/skel/.bash_profile as an example.

# set PATH so it includes user's private bin if it exists
if [ -d ~/bin ]
then
        PATH="${PATH}:`echo ~/bin`"
fi

However, I have just noticed that someone removed the echo and changed it to

PATH="~/bin:${PATH}"

I don't mind the order change, but the echo command is important. Without
it all programs which don't perform the tilde expansion on their own start moaning
or fail to work completely. And other programs may complain about the security
issues of ~/ in the PATH.

Even if it is currently commented out and serves just as an example, please put
the echo command back. It will eventually save some time of the users which decide to
uncomment it.

Thanks,

Patrik

P.S. I always wonder who undoes the things that obviously must have been
done on some purpose.
