The initscript runs netstat, which is in the net-tools package,
but there's no dependency on net-tools, and netstat is not
used conditionally.

Please either add a dependency on net-tools, or make the use of
netstat conditional on its presence.  The former option is the
safest.

on existance.
Added bonus is alternative usage of iproute (and awk) for same functionality.

The patch works for me.

As Roger suggested, adding the dependency is a good idea, because
otherwise the automatic adding of the -P option which the init script
does is not working and the user does not know why.

Therefore, I NMUed a version of oidentd with your patch and a
dependency on "iproute | net-tools". I am NMUing because I could not
find any Debian activity by Stefan Bauer (the maintainer of oidentd) in
2012 at all and this bug has been open since 2012-05-14.

Stefan: Do you still want to actively maintain oidentd?
