Package: libcairo2:amd64
Version: 1.12.0-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable
libcairo2:amd64 1.12.0-2 yield major display problems in iceweasel
(and perhaps other applications). See attached snapshot for an example
of what I get (such text corruption also affects the tabs and the
menu). No such problems if I revert libcairo2 to 1.10.2-7.

Thanks for reporting, this is known upstream too:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47266
It's a bug in the X server in EXA, which existed since a long time but
was exposed with the new cairo upgrade because the code path wasn't used
much by anything in the past.
FWIW, I can't reproduce this here but apparently enough people have the
same problem.

.../libcairo2_1.12.2-1_i386.deb) ...) huge performance issues with
google-chrome-stableb and chromium.
If I open many (like 5) tabs at once from bookmarks, browser gets REALLY
slow, almost crashes. Feels like 10x slower than before upgrade.
Actually asks if I want to close some tabs or wait. Before I could
open easily like 50 tabs with good performance (16GB memory in my system).

Hello, as Google Chrome user I find this bug report insightful:
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=121624
In particular, the last comment suggests a patch for Debian:
http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=80382
I haven't applied it yet (I used the "nvidia-settings -a
InitialPixmapPlacement=0" workaround, switched back to 4, 1 -- seems fine
so far, I haven't restarted xsession yet, too busy with many apps for now).

ii linux-image-3.4-trunk-amd64 3.4.1-1~experimental.1
Unfortunately these packages are both experimental and I am not able to
test the video driver with a stock 3.2 kernel right now. Maybe someone
could test the experimental video driver with the
linux-image-3.2.0-2-amd64? Or are there dependencies between the xserver

FWIW: There are efforts to find the right nouveau/libdrm (by patching
those) which would work with 3.2 kernels while not breaking support for
random cards.

[Message part 1 (text/plain, inline)]
Not sure if #682308 is a duplicate of this bug, but I believe that this
is the case.
I was able to solve this issue by applying the third workaround on #682308
http://bugs.debian.org/682308

Hi,
On my laptop (with a NVIDIA card and the nouveau driver) the version -2

the applications).
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation Device 0dfc (rev a1) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])
I'm reopening this bug.
Cheers
