This bus is unlikely to be caused by wicd. It is, in fact, been patched to deal
with the bug Ben is referring to.

Reassigning back to general.

Kindly,
David

All right, reassigning to upgrade-reports, since this is still not a
general bug affecting a large portion of packages in the archive. Not
sure which package might be responsible, but hopefully someone else
will know.

Thanks for looking into it.

I know, but this could be a regression caused by the fix.

The list of packages upgraded doesn't include anything else likely to
affect the hostname.

Please attach the files /etc/hostname /etc/hosts /etc/nsswitch.conf

- does the "bad" hostname persist after rebooting (I assume so from your
  message)?
- where exactly do you see the "bad" hostname?

Kind regards,
Andrei

I found that after upgrading executing sudo it responded sudo: unable to
resolv host unknownXXXXX, so i looked into /etc/hosts and i found it
changed but the problem is i did already corrected changing hostname with
hostname binary, i didn't look into the other diles but my terminal was
like this:

myusername@unknownXXXXXX:-$ (wehere XXXX were random numbers and letters)
instead of
myusername@desktop:-$

And i didn't attemp to reboot

But i have another computer without upgading yet to try to reproduce the
bug but i will only have acces to it the next 24 hours.

I haven't been able to reproduce this bug in ther computer.
Computer 1 wheezy fresh install about two weeks ago, after upgrading
packages three days ago it happened.
Computer 2 wheezy "fresh" install months ago, after upgrading packages
three days ago it happened.
Computer 3 upgrade from squeeze to wheeze two weeks ago, after upgrading
packages three days ago could not reproduce it, so...

This could be related with some especial configuration or something. I
don't know, sorry for not being more helpfull.

should we close it?

cheers
