I see the same warning and ignore it, but I'll fix it anyways - it is
simple enough...

This is indeed really strange... Can you list the files in the
/etc/semanticscuttle directory? There should be a config.default.php
file in there, and the findFiles() function in
src/SemanticScuttle/Config.php should find it...

Ok, the file was not in that directory:
Now I copied it and error message..... only changed :-) in
Please copy "config.php.dist" to "config.php" in data/ folder.
I have that file in /usr/share/semanticscuttle/data/ directory but the
message did not change.

If I could use this program I would like to translate in italian: what
file should I look for translation?

Actually, I was wrong - here my config.default.php is in:
/usr/share/semanticscuttle/data/config.default.php
/etc/semanticscuttle/config.php is also installed by the package, so it
should be present!
Maybe try running dpkg-reconfigure semanticscuttle?

Take a look at /usr/share/semanticscuttle/data/locales/ - it looks like
it's already translated to italian, you're in luck! :)
Cheers,
A.

I tried this but the file was not copied. So I copied the file from the
deb package and I got this error:
XML Parsing Error: syntax error
Location: https://bbs.cybervalley.org/semanticscuttle/
Line Number 2, Column 1:Fatal error: <u>SQL ERROR</u> [ mysql ]<br /><br />Table 'semanticscuttle.sc_users' doesn't exist<br /><br /><u>CALLING PAGE</u><br /><br />/semanticscuttle/index.php&<br /><br /><u>SQL</u><br /><br />SELECT DISTINCT B.*, U.username, U.name FROM sc_users AS U, sc_bookmarks AS B WHERE B.uId = U.uId AND B.bStatus = 0 GROUP BY B.bHash ORDER BY B.bModified DESC

Hi Antoine,
I've noticed that the package creates a database but doesn't populate it nor
gives user's credentials. So the problem may start here:
The following NEW packages will be installed:
semanticscuttle
0 upgraded, 1 newly installed, 0 to remove and 498 not upgraded.
Need to get 0 B/614 kB of archives.
After this operation, 2,771 kB of additional disk space will be used.
Preconfiguring packages ...
Selecting previously deselected package semanticscuttle.
(Reading database ... 42800 files and directories currently installed.)
Unpacking semanticscuttle (from .../semanticscuttle_0.98.4+dfsg-1_all.deb) ...
Setting up semanticscuttle (0.98.4+dfsg-1) ...
dbconfig-common: writing config to /etc/dbconfig-common/semanticscuttle.conf
Creating config file /etc/dbconfig-common/semanticscuttle.conf with new version
Creating config file /etc/semanticscuttle/database.php with new version
granting access to database semanticscuttle for semanticscuttle@localhost: success.
verifying access for semanticscuttle@localhost: success.
creating database semanticscuttle: success.
verifying database semanticscuttle exists: success.

There may be something wrong with config/post-install scripts.
The original reported issue related to config file can be easly fixed by
linking /usr/share/semanticscuttle/data/config.default.php to
/usr/share/php/data/SemanticScuttle/config.default.php in your debian/.links
file.
After manually populating database I got it working but didn't play enough to
say if it's really doing the job.
Btw, it would be nice if you had a HEAD refering to a master branch in the
git repository, so you can avoid this:
warning: remote HEAD refers to nonexistent ref, unable to checkout.

Hello tiago!
I am not sure I have the energy to fix this package. While I am still
using semanticscuttle, it's only a temporary arrangement while I figure
out how to import my bookmarks into statusnet, which is being packaged
in Debian.
Once I have completely switched to statusnet, I will orphan this
package, but in the meantime i have very little time to work on this, so
maybe what I need to do is orphan it right away, at at least RFA/RFH
it. :)
I feel maybe this should be removed from testing, all things
considered...

Hi,
The bug is still there, just ran into it. The changelog of the version
0.98.3+dfsg-6, mentions fixing the warnings when restarting apache that
are mentioned in this bug report and close this bug. But they don't solve
the problem originally reported.
Tiago's summary of the problem is good:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=659390#47
And without populating the database, the package is useless, that's why
I'm raising the severity.

Hi Ana, and others,
I will not have time to process this bug in the next two weeks, feel
free to NMU or RM.

I looked into it and after populating the database by hand and also fixing
manually the initial issue [1]. It doesn't work anyway, the following
errors appear:
[Mon Apr 01 02:15:47 2013] [error] [client x.x.x.x] PHP Warning: include(bookmarks.tpl.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /usr/share/php/SemanticScuttle/Model/Template.php on line 89
[Mon Apr 01 02:15:47 2013] [error] [client x.x.x.x] PHP Warning: include(): Failed opening 'bookmarks.tpl.php' for inclusion (include_path='/etc/semanticscuttle/templates/default:/etc/semanticscuttle/templates/default:.:/usr/share/php:/usr/share/pear:/usr/share/php/SemanticScuttle/../') in /usr/share/php/SemanticScuttle/Model/Template.php on line 89
I wonder if this package have ever worked (looking at popcorn doesn't look
like). At this stage, I prefer looking for a nicer replacement of
scuttle/semanticscuttle. I doubt a NMU would have small changes, I would go
with removing semanticscuttle from Wheezy.

[1] what's missing is:
cp /usr/share/semanticscuttle/data/config.default.php /etc/semanticscuttle

I got it to work (that is, not throw obvious immediate errors) from a clean
install by fixing three separate problems:
1) Initial issue reported in bug: "No default configuration file
config.default.php found. This is really, really strange".
Fixed by creating a symlink from
/usr/share/semanticscuttle/data/config.default.php to
/usr/share/php/data/SemanticScuttle/
2) Database not populated. This is because the dbconfig-common file is named
/usr/share/dbconfig-common/data/semanticscuttle/install/tables.sql, while it
should be named /usr/share/dbconfig-common/data/semanticscuttle/install/mysql.
3) Spews strict standards errors to the browser. Fixed by setting $debugMode
to false in /etc/semanticscuttle/config.php.
After fixing these three errors I didn't see any immediate (!) errors anymore.
So while I think each one of those could be fixed by a one or few lines change
in the packaging, it's more that the package was apparently in wheezy for over
a year in this state, with these three rather orthogonal but immediately
obvious errors. This, combined with the fact that semanticscuttle was never in
a stable release and the maintainer has agreed already with removal from
wheezy as an option, leads me to the conclusion that removal from wheezy is
the best option at this point.
Hence, I'm filing a removal request with the release team.
Cheers,
Thijs
