Plover is a stenotype input method for X11. It allows input of English text using
chords rather than letter by letter, enabling typing speeds to approach 300wpm
for a skilled user. It can use a dedicated stenotype machine, or a standard
QWERTY keyboard as long as it permits chords to be passed to the computer.

Plover is written in Python. The licence is GPL v2. Its name rhymes with
"lover", not "over", just as with the name of the wading bird.

I would like to see this in Debian.

If you need a sponsor, I will look at the package when you post the
RFS to debian-mentors.

retitle 654659 RFP: plover -- stenotype input method
noowner 654659
tag 654659 - pending
thanks

Hi,

This is an automatic email to change the status of plover back from ITP
(Intent to Package) to RFP (Request for Package), because this bug hasn't seen
any activity during the last 12 months.

If you are still interested in adopting plover, please send a mail to
<control@bugs.debian.org> with:

retitle 654659 ITP: plover -- stenotype input method
 owner 654659 !
 thanks

However, it is not recommended to keep ITP for a long time without acting on
the package, as it might cause other prospective maintainers to refrain from
packaging that software. It is also a good idea to document your progress on
this ITP from time to time, by mailing <654659@bugs.debian.org>.

Thank you for your interest in Debian,

I must apologise for the delay in finishing the debianisation here;
I know a number of people are looking forward to seeing it finished.

The work I currently have is available via git from
https://github.com/tthurman/ploverdeb

and various versions of the package, along with their lintian reports,
are visible at
https://mentors.debian.net/package/plover

I think I'm making progress, but suggestions and help are always welcome.
Thanks to the folk on #debian-mentors for helping me get this far.
