Subject: ddd: unable to use perl debugger
Date: Wed, 31 May 2000 23:54:00 +0200
Package: ddd
Version: 3.2.1-3
Severity: important

When invoking ddd on a perl script (eg. "ddd /usr/bin/dpkg-repack"),
the ddd console freezes after displaying the following:

=====
GNU DDD 3.2.1 (i686-pc-linux-gnu), by Dorothea Lütkehaus and Andreas Zeller.
Copyright © 1995-1999 Technische Universität Braunschweig, Germany.

Loading DB routines from perl5db.pl version 1.0402
Emacs support available.

Enter h or `h h' for help.

^A^B  DB<1> ^A^B
=====

Only when quitting ddd is the source window transciently displayed,
but that's not much usefull...

Using explicit "-debugger /usr/bin/perl" does not change anything.

I'm unable to reproduce this problem on either a 2.2r3 system or an up to
date "unstable" system. Please let me know if you can still reproduce this
problem.

After experiencing the same problem as Yann, I have contacted the ddd list
and the author (Andreas Zeller) has fixed the problem. Are you considering
packaging 3.3.1 in the near future?

I can't seem to find 3.3.1 at the moment (can't get to ftp.gnu.org and the
funet mirror doesn't have it), but sure, I'll package it soon.

I've just wrote to the ddd list and Andreas Zeller to let them know. I'll
write back as soon as I find a mirror of ddd-3.3.1.

ftp.gnu.org seems to be in overload mode. You can find the new ddd release
on a number of mirrors:
