Hi,

It seems that the current version in the archive has some issues with
the last version of freeTDS, see:

Cheers

Subject: Packaging (and RFS) for pymssql 2.1.1+dfsg-1
Date: Wed, 18 Nov 2015 13:22:04 -0500
Hi Joss,

I've updated pymssql to 2.1.1+dfsg-1, closing #648230, #709210, and
#590548, and pushed the packaging branch to DPMT git, in a new branch
"2.1.1". We've had trouble with the freetds incompatibility; the new
package solves the issue.

There are a few packaging cleanups described in debian/changelog.
Notably the new version reworks what sourceless files they include, so
I've decided to let uscan handle it and dropped the get-orig-source
target per advice on #debian-python.

Could you look over it before I push it to master?

Also, are you interested in sponsoring this upload?

Thanks,

Hi Geoffrey, Joss, DPMT

There's been no substantive uploads of this package in the past 8 years,
and we've missed the chance to get a new package into stretch. I'm
tempted to request its removal from stretch given it's seriously buggy
#709210 and unmaintened.

Thanks,

Alternately, if you care about the package, it's not to late to get the bug
fixed for Stretch. Additionally, if it's worth removing the package over, it
should probably be a higher severity than important.

Hi,

as I explained already several years ago, I don’t have access to MS SQL
servers anymore to test the package, so feel free to adopt it.

Hi James,

Thanks for the reminder! I've fixed up the packaging to work with the
current upstream release 2.1.3 and uploaded it, and I've filed an unblock
request, bug #863287, to see if the release team is willing to get it into
Stretch. I'll also try to get it into backports, either way.

Joss, I missed your reply before 2.1.3+dfsg-1 was tagged/uploaded but I
added myself to Uploaders, and I can remove you from Maintainers in the
next release. (I left the job where we were using SQL Server, but I'm able
to test against SQL Server for Linux, because apparently we live in a
world where Microsoft hosts an apt server and builds Debian packages with
systemd unit files.) Thanks for all your past work on the package!
