FreeRDP has made considerable progress and only the latest FreeRDP in the 
upstream master branch (pre 1.0) allows connecting ot RDP servers that require
TLS authentication or maximum level of encryption for a client to connect.

>From my (users) perspective making a package out of the snapshot of pre-1.0
code could make sense. - At least for sid?

As explained on IRC I'd be OK in getting it into experimental for now
as we expect ABI and API changes until we get final 1.0 release.

I am quite busy to work on that so if you're able to help with doing
the packaging changes Daniel or I can review and upload it to
experimental for you.

Well it looks like this package is popular today. I was also working
on updating this package today and committed my work to the
collab-maint git before I saw Jean's work.

My changes don't include the .pc and CDBS changes he made though.

I'd prefer to not move to cdbs but except from it, I am OK with the changes
done.

If you can look at other changes he has proposed and import what you think
is OK (I didn't check the .pc changes you referred to) I am OK in review
and upload it to experimental.

I pushed a commit to fix the version number (1.0~beta5, not 1.0-beta5,
that'll cause trouble when we want to release 1.0-1), and reviewed
Jean-Louis' debdiff.

 * We do not need debian/freerdp.pc, we can (and should) just use the
   one generated by the upstream build.

 * Jean-Louis added the libavcodec-dev build dependency, and indeed
   the cmake build system files check for this. Committed.

 * The rest of Jean-Louis' diff is applied.

 * As the symbols file shows, the ABI totally changed. This needs
   bumping the SONAME of libfreerdp0, which should happen upstream.
   Now, Debian and Ubuntu just have one reverse dependency
   (remmina-plugin-rdp), so if upstream does not want to bump for some
   reason, we could deal with it, but it'd be ugly.

The soname was bumped. I just wasn't paying attention to the lintian error.
