reassign 646795 debian-installer
retitle 646795 debian-installer: after used a usb stick to install debian, the usb stick cannot mount automaticly
thanks
Hi,
I get a similar issue after installing a system using an USB key.
It seems that the d-i is adding entries in /etc/fstab for USB key/disks
that prevent udisks to automatically mount USB disks.
I guess that d-i should not add such entries to the fstab.
Cheers

Well no, this bug seems to be about USB drive being treated as ISO
partitions.
Here the issue, at least for me, is that the d-i add a
fstab entry like:
/dev/sdb1 /media/usb0 auto rw,user,noauto 0 0
/dev/sdc1 /media/usb1 auto rw,user,noauto 0 0
This is breaking udisks because /media/usbX doesn't exist. I'm not sure
that adding /media/usbX is the way to go as udisks is usually naming
the mountpoint according the label of the partition, and I guess we want
to keep this behavior for the desktop.
Cheers

Can you check if this happens in the daily builds [1]?

I've reinstalled my laptop (also using an usbkey and the last daily
build) and I've the same entries.
/dev/sdb1 /media/usb0 auto rw,user,noauto 0 0
Also please note that the /media directory is empty.

Debian Installer 7.0 Beta3 is still affected by this. I installed from
CD, but plugged in an USB stick to provide the non-free firmware for my
network interface. After the installation I had the following line in
/etc/fstab
/dev/sdc1 /media/usb0 auto rw,user,noauto 0 0
That line prevented Nautilus from auto-mounting a different, NTFS
formatted USB-HDD later.
Best,
Tobias

hi folks,
I have the same issue in my debian's installation.
As some people already told [1], I just comment those "weird" lines [2] in
/etc/fstab and now my auto-mount works fine.
Some information that may help: I used a usb stick to install debian with
the image 'Debian GNU/Linux wheezy-DI-rc1 "Wheezy" - Official Snapshot
amd64 DVD Binary-1 20130214-12:23'.
[1] I first saw in Michal Wirth message at
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=631504#34
[2] Lines added to my fstab:
/dev/sdb1 /media/usb0 auto rw,user,noauto 0 0
/dev/sdb2 /media/usb1 auto rw,user,noauto 0 0
regards,

Hi,
thank you for submitting bug reports concering debian-installer, much
appreciated.
I read through all the bugs mentioned here (and I'm sure they were read by
several people at the time they were submitted) and am closing them now as/if
- they (finally) indicated success and/or
- I know from first hand experience that the functionality is working in
Wheezy and/or
- they only contained very little information and/or
- they contained user errors and/or
- they have been from a development phase where things were not stable and/or
- they are very old and/or
- they are wishlist but rather special + exotic and not have been acted on for
years. (See http://blog.liw.fi/posts/wishlist-bugs/ why it's often useful to
close wishlist bugs.)
If I've closed a bug incorrectly please do reply (it's easy to reopen and I'll
do if requested) or just file a new one - and that's often better, as the bug
log will be clearer and shorter and not contain cruft.
cheers,
Holger
