Not all clients seeding a given torrent may be online at a given time.
The people participating in a torrent may need the resources for other
things and may therefore pause their seeding for a while. In that case,
just wait and the torrent will resume when it has seeds again.

You can help us ensure better service to all torrent users by seeding as
much as you can, once you have a complete copy of each image you download.

Regards,
Ben

Furthermore, please

1. Confirm my guess that what you really mean is that the torrent just
stopped downloading after a while. If that's not what happened, please
explain the problem better.

2. Confirm which torrent(s) are having this problem (indicate URL to the
torrent or its Hash) and if it is any better now (I have resumed seeding
all Live Squeeze 6.0.3 images, including the USB-HDD ones, but cannot
guarantee I will be able to keep them all available 24/7).

Thanks,
Ben

Ben, I think he means that the external drive he's using disconnects
itself when downloading any torrent which is large enough.

I think it can be related to some power saving settings of the hard
drive itself (I've been experience the same issue sometimes with my
Transcend USB HDD; I think it's because of the disk controller's
misconfiguration).

Ben Armstrong, Andrew Shadura!
Thanks for reply!

Yes, it's not networking disconnect.

If i start download or seeding of any torrent, after time external
USB-drive disappears
(for any of the 2 disks — WD Caviar Green 2Tb (WD20EARS) in external
enclosure Silver River II (ST0016)
and Seagate FreeAgent XTreme 1Tb).

In /var/log/syslog there lines:

Oct 19 14:32:03 m1 kernel: [50990.056419] usb 1-3: USB disconnect, address
6
Oct 19 14:32:03 m1 kernel: [50990.056881] sd 3:0:0:0: Device offlined -
not ready after error recovery
Oct 19 14:32:03 m1 kernel: [50990.056993] sd 3:0:0:0: [sdc] Unhandled
error code
Oct 19 14:32:03 m1 kernel: [50990.057002] sd 3:0:0:0: [sdc] Result:
hostbyte=DID_NO_CONNECT driverbyte=DRIVER_OK

28 00 0b 90 c2 b7 00 00 e0 00

And in Debian Lenny, Fedora 14 and Windows these disks work with
BitTorrent clients correctly.

Could hard drive settings depends from operating system?
If yes, what difference between Squeeze and Lenny settings?

Best regards,
Entada.

This appears to be a kernel driver bug. Please open a new bug report by
running 'reportbug linux-image-2.6.32-5-686'. This will automatically
include various useful system information.

Please add a kernel log covering the period where the disconnection
occurs, if this is not included automatically. (This should be in
/var/log/dmesg or /var/log/messages.)

Ben.
